The Minam River Lodge is an intimate off-grid resort, located deep in Eastern Oregon’s treasured Eagle Cap Wilderness on the pristine Minam River, and accessible only by an 8.5-mile hike or backcountry flight. During April and May, there are a variety of preseason projects that require skilled carpenters and laborers. This year’s main project is the construction of a new fab shop from the ground up. Other projects include the restoration of existing tent platforms, installation of wood flooring, and various woodworking tasks around the property. There is a mill onsite which will be used for much of the construction lumber.

Staff housing and all meals (delicious!) are provided. Housing is double-occupancy rooms in a shared house. The staff works an approximate 40-hr week, with plenty of opportunities to explore the incredible surrounding wilderness, enjoy beers by the fire, play music, cards, fierce corn hole tournaments, etc. The large wood-fired sauna is often fired up nightly, and the river is steps away for an icy plunge.

An initial flight into the lodge is provided from the Enterprise, OR airport on April 3rd, and the flight out will be on approximately May 25th. Staff cars are safe left at the airport for the duration of employment. Transportation from other surrounding airports such as Walla Walla or Tri-Cities, WA may also be possible.

We are seeking a skilled carpenter with experience beyond basic finishing, and a desire to contribute to the legacy of this unique, historic lodge. Wage is DOE.
