Tour Guide in Skagway, Alaska

Sockeye Cycle Co. is a locally-owned bicycle business based in Haines and Skagway, Alaska. We’re a small, Alaskan-owned company run by people passionate about riding, fixing, and traveling by bike. We’re looking for a few more guides to complete our Skagway team with start dates from 4/27 to 6/1.

Our Skagway-based Bike Tour Guides spend the summer riding with groups on mountain roads and gravel paths through the temperate rainforest. The main attributes needed are:

• Good leadership & people skills are important. Experience leading or teaching groups preferred.
• The ability to keep organized and stick to a schedule.
• A desire to study, learn and share information about the local region with visitors of all backgrounds.
• A basic understanding of bike mechanics (training opportunities available to increase your skills).
• Experience with bike touring or tour guiding is a plus.
• Guides also drive our tour vans while towing trailers and need to have a driving record clear of major offenses.

Multi-day bike trip guiding around Alaska and Yukon is available to more experienced guides and can be combined with guiding day tours to form a full-time position.

Skagway has a vibrant summer community with a great network of trails surrounding the town. Housing is also available in comfortable, private rooms at a partially subsidized rate for the term of the contract, and positions generally make significant tips and include end-of-season bonus, industry discounts, and pro deals.
