Job Description

Crafts Director

Job Relation: Responsible to the camp director.

Job Definition: To plan, organize, and supervise all aspects of the crafts program.

Professional Qualifications:

Basic knowledge and skills in general crafts. Specific skills and expertise in one

or more crafts such as leather, ceramics, nature, etc. Supervising experience for

both staff and campers.

Personal Qualifications:

1. A personal commitment to Jesus Christ.

2. A desire to serve God through the synod’s camps.

3. Emotional stability and maturity of judgment.

4. Ability to place campers’ needs over personal desires and convenience.

5. A love for and understanding of children and youth.

6. An ability to work cooperatively with the staff.

7. Good health.

8. An appreciation for the camp setting and the outdoors.

9. Specific skills for which you are responsible, i.e. – ceramics, nature

crafts, painting, etc.

10. Willingness to give a Christian witness through the creation and

interpretation of crafts.

11. An understanding of and agreement with the objectives of educational

ministry of the Lutheran Camping Corporation of Central PA, and the

ELCA.

Performance Responsibilities:

1. In consultation with the Administrator and the camp director, develop

all craft projects for campers.

2. In consultation with the Administrator and the camp director, order

supplies.

3. Provide instruction for the campers and supervision for staff during

craft periods.

4. Keep crafts area clean and equipment in good repair.

5. Prepare an inventory of supplies at the close of the season.

6. Assist the Administrator in the setting of prices for craft projects.

7. Participate in all staff meetings.

8. Help counselors conduct special activities when extra help is needed.

9. Help in the registration of campers.

Some Criteria for Evaluation:

1. Are there crafts for all age groups? Are they interesting? What is the

camper response?

2. Are supplies available and in quantity?

3. Is the crafts period a time of joy? Is the instructor patient, cheerful, and

skilled in teaching campers?

4. Is the crafts area clean? Is equipment abused

Job Type: Temporary

Pay: From $325.00 per week

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

  • Experience with Children: 1 year (Preferred)
  • teaching: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • First Aid Certification (Preferred)
  • CPR Certification (Preferred)
