Position Summary:
To safely implement Aullwood Audubon Programs for children ages 5-14. Camp Counselors in Training (CiT) will be needed for approximately eight weeks over the course of the summer which will include one week of intensive training and up to seven weeks of camp. Training will occur from June 19th through June 23rd. Camp is scheduled from June 26th through August 11th for 4-8 hours per day. Summer camp staff will be subject to any CDC, state, local or Audubon guidelines for Covid-19 safety.
Compensation:
$15.00 / hour
Essential Functions:
Assisting Summer Earth Adventure Camp Counselors in the following:
- Executing each weeklong program session, setting and cleaning up each day’s activities including but not limited to helping to lead outdoor discovery hikes, conducting pond explorations, , and facilitating nature crafts and games.
- Keeping track of campers during the day and maintaining a safe and supportive atmosphere for campers.
- Help campers resolve conflicts.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience working with children: initiating group activities, playing games, babysitting, child minding, etc.
- Willing to learn how to de-escalate conflict among campers.
- Willing to learn Audubon’s COVID-19 guidelines and safety procedures and enforcing those safety precautions, if necessary.
- Strong work ethic, self-motivated, enthusiasm for working with children of all ages.
- Able to be flexible.
- Are a good listener.
- Able to work productively in a team environment.
- Counselors in Training must show respect for others of all ages, race, gender, etc., as well as respect for nature and the outdoors.
- Able to work in all weather conditions.
- Able to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
- Must have transportation to and from work.
- Able to walk on trails, hills and uneven terrain. Be able to run, sit, stand, grasp, lift, move, walk, push, reach, climb and pull for short and extended periods of time.
- Able to work outdoors in the heat of summer, while wearing a mask, if required.
- Willing to learn CPR and First Aid.
- Must be willing to have temperature checks performed each day and receive COVID-19 testing per Audubon policy, if required.
- Must be at least 16 years old or above on June 9, 2023.
