Smith Fork Ranch

Located in Crawford, CO, Smith Fork Ranch has established itself as one of the most prestigious guest ranches in the Rocky Mountains. SFR changed ownership in 2021 and has undergone significant investment and growth while honoring the property’s longstanding guest ranching history. We are currently looking for a Facilities Manager to join our team, reporting to the General Manager, to maintain the facilities, infrastructure, grounds and other aspects of running a luxury guest ranch.

Requirements

Highly motivated self-starter, ability to follow direction and goal orientated, work and communicate with fellow employees and guests to a high-quality standard. Ability to perform task with minimal supervision.
Minimum 7 years’ experience in same field
Experience managing Ranch Foreman and other related personnel
Experience managing outside vendors for maintenance, repair, and new construction projects
Experience managing and maintaining rural ranch infrastructure including dirt/gravel/shale roads, fences, gates, wells, springs, irrigation ditches, and buildings.
Keeping all work areas clean and organized, ability to perform inventory, track supplies and receipts, working closely to coordinate with General Manager for cost effective quality outcome for all projects.
Ability to plan and schedule preventative, corrective maintenance projects.
The safe use and instruction of tools, ladders, for self and any helpers on projects.
Experienced with chainsaw, firewood, fencing – barbed, rail, pipe, gates, and pasture irrigation.
Ability to maintain and repair irrigation systems including pasture flooding and sprinklers.
Ability to operate standard transmission vehicles, tractor, skid steer, and implements for equipment, forks, snowplow, bucket, auger.
Experienced horse and livestock management.
Responsibilities and Duties:

Coordination with General Manager to ensure execution of business model for ranch operations.
Assure implementation and completion of assigned tasks.
Enforcement of safety protocols
Maintain a well-organized, clean and safe work environment.
Assist the General Manager as requested with ranch specific projects.
Land Infrastructure including ranch improvements, construction projects and road maintenance.
Manage contracted employees with maintenance projects and as needed hire and manage subcontractors and/or part-time staff.
Management and maintenance of all SFR vehicles, ATV’s & implements.
Inventory management and ordering of supplies needed to complete projects.
Adhere to designated budget and operating expenses.
Able to schedule and complete projects in a timely manner with the ability to successfully multi-task.
Oversee the ranch U.S. forest service permits and responsibilities.
Manage irrigation for SFR & HN including ditch, river, pond and headgate maintenance.
Manage domestic spring and irrigation water rights, working closely with attorneys for SFR and Hawk’s Nest best interest.
Manage and supervise annual hay harvest.
Work with Facilities Manager with landscaping projects, sprinkler system and domestic water system
Responsible for training staff and all aspects of maintenance projects
Manage and maintain all assets of SFR and Hawk’s Nest
Manage all fencing projects for ranch pastures
Management and maintenance of all ranch equipment and machinery
Assist Facilities Manager with snow removal and snow management
Maintain complete confidentiality for all aspects of business for ranches and owners.
