This position is unique, to say the least. We are looking for someone to take care of our home, land, and vacation rentals. The ideal person would enjoy living in the mountains in a fairly remote town (30 miles from a major grocery store, Starbucks or Walmart), likes to work with hands and in the yard, enjoys or doesn't mind living in a small space, and takes own initiative to improve things. There are lots of opportunities to do stuff on our land and make the space your own, including expanding the garden, building your own greenhouse, etc. We really want someone who will love and appreciate this environment as much as we do. Environmental consciousness and awareness is EXTREMELY important to us and we expect the Caretaker to live in alignment with our mission.
We live 30 min from the gates of Yosemite, walking distance to many hikes/trails, minutes from many lakes/streams/rivers, and surrounded by beautiful trees and fresh air. We do however have neighbors so its not like you won't be living near and seeing people.
-get paid for Housekeeping duties (DOE); caretaker tasks in trade for rent/housing. Addtional pay available on projects outside of regular caretaking duties.
-Potential bonuses for achieving/maintaining a 5-star rating, receiving exemplary reviews, etc.
-Approximately 60 hours/month, or however many hours it takes to complete all necessary tasks. This number may vary depending your experience/skills. **If you're a couple or family, the work/trade agreement will be negotiated.
-Great opportunity for right person/people to build your resume, expand skill set, explore new ventures, community contributions, and promote and provide a positive, ecologically-balanced experience.
You will need your own vehicle, preferably 4WD or AWD, a current driver's license, and insurance. A work truck will also be available.
Please include a resume with your application but most importantly a cover letter telling us all about yourself. This job is really for the right person, not the most experienced person. Please include current references.
In order to be considered for this position, you will need to be able to come stay, work on some projects together, for at least 5 days so you can get a feel for the land, location, and caretaker expectations. We will not pay for travel but you will have a free place to stay.
