NIU Lorado Taft Field Campus
NIU Lorado Taft Field Campus is Northern Illinois University’s outdoor education and conference center. Located on the bluffs of the Rock River in Oregon, IL, Taft’s outdoor education program is all about providing positive experiences in nature for youth. Classes include ecology, survival skills, pioneer life, team building, large group simulations, night hikes, and more!
The primary responsibility of the Outdoor Education Instructors is to plan activities and classes, then teach them to 4th-8th grade students in the outdoors. Instructors also help with dining hall “hoppers,” manage the teaching and supply storage areas and work on campus improvement projects.
On-site housing is required, and instructors are provided a private room in shared, furnished housing units. Instructors are also welcome to have meals in the dining hall when it is in operation. In addition to housing, other benefits include health, vision, and dental insurance.
This position will start on January 4, 2022, and will end on May 31, 2022, with the possibility of continued employment for the summer and/or the 2022-2023 school year.
