Rock Eagle 4-H Environmental Education

The Rock Eagle 4-H Environmental Education Program is located in Eatonton, Georgia. The program is a residential environmental education program that serves K-12th graders from the Southeast.  Classes include lake ecology, herpetology, Native American studies, orienteering, canoeing, and challenge course.  The Center can accommodate up to 450 students for a three-day program.  The program runs Monday through Friday with occasional weekend groups.  We are looking for enthusiastic people with a genuine interest in child development.

The teaching season:

Spring – Late January to May

Fall – Late August to December

Staff assists with animal care, trail maintenance, curriculum development, with the potential for high ropes courses and other curriculum certifications.

Qualifications:

Commitment, genuine interest in working with children, creativity, flexibility, well-developed communication skills, leadership ability; a background in Education, Natural Science, Environmental Education, Biology, Forestry, Outdoor Education, or related fields preferred.

Salary:

The salary will be $11.50/hr (includes a limited insurance policy). Housing is provided for $20/week.

Other Opportunities:

Seasonal Staff may also visit and stay overnight for free at 3 other Georgia 4-H Centers. Fortson 4-H Center is located south of Atlanta. Wahsega 4-H Center is located in the North Georgia Mountains. Burton 4-H Center is on the Atlantic Coast near Savannah on Tybee Island.
