Position Title: Seasonal Climbing and Challenge Course Facilitator (C&CCF)

Compensation: $20 per hour; exclusive outdoor gear discounts

Employment Term: March 2023 through October 2023 (with opportunities outside of these dates)

Position Overview:

This position works collaboratively with other staff to plan and implement team-building programs on the Cispus Learning Center Challenge Course and Climbing Wall In Randle, Washington, as well as other locations across Washington state with a diverse population of participants. No need to relocate if you live in Washington, C&CCF are provided lodging and food for programs on an as needed basis. C&CCF have the opportunity to gain invaluable industry knowledge through paid professional development and networking opportunities. C&CCF report to the Challenge Course Manager (CCM).

Duties & Responsibilities:

Plans and implements activities which may include specialized programming such as climbing, challenge course elements, belay systems, teambuilding, and group games.
Pre/Post inspection of challenge courses, equipment and surrounding areas.
Proactively report equipment and supply needs to management.
Responsible for instructing, training and coaching individuals and groups to ensure physical, mental, and emotional safety and responding to situations as they arise.
Must be able to communicate instructions and information in a developmentally appropriate manner.
Other duties as assigned to run a successful climbing and challenge course program.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED
18 Years of Age
Requires the ability to lift 50 lbs and complete physically demanding tasks
Requires the employee to be able to stand for multiple hours and set-up and access all areas of the challenge course and climbing wall, up to 60 ft in the air
Exceptional customer service skills
Experience working with youth and adult groups
Prefer knowledge of and previous experience with diverse populations (language, age, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.). Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful.

Terms of Employment:

Employment is on a casual, as needed basis. It is required that all C&CCF stay current with facilitation and as a result, facilitators must commit to at least 10 programs per year, attend a yearly facilitator training, and attend monthly inservices to stay active. Applicants are subject to a background check, and employment is contingent upon the verification of the completion of the background check.
