Ability to communicate effectively with campers and camp staff. Ability to plan, develop, and implementeffective childhood and youth programs and activities. Ability to communicate and work with groupsparticipating (age and skill levels) and provide necessary instruction to campers and staff. Ability to observecamper and staff behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques.
Visual and auditory abilityto identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity. Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid; Must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire,evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers. Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the Englishlanguage.
Education and Experience Six months experience teaching child development or youth programs in a church preferred; six monthsexperience teaching music education and teaching experience, with the ability to play and teach lessons in a classroom setting involving more than one student preferred, or any equivalent combination of trainingand experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Licenses and Certifications CPR and First Aid Certification Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Some physical requirements of the Camp Counselor/ Music Instructor position could be endurance including climbing, standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate activities are required. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Have awillingness to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours delivering a program in the facility available.Operate with daily exposure to the sun and heat and varying environmental conditions. Additional Information Camp Staff Orientation will be held June 6 – 11, 2023 and participation is required. The 2023 Summer Camp program will be held June 12 – July 8, 2023.
