Animal Care Worker

Are you interested in learning how to run a small urban, rescue therapy ranch? We are seeking a positive and hardworking individual to assist with the care of our animals, including horses, cattle, fowl, exotic’s, dogs & cats of course. This position is ideal for those looking to expand on their animal caregiving experience.

Requirements:

1) Some prior experience with livestock and/or horses.

2) Must be able to lift 75 lbs

3) 18 years or older

4) Valid driver License

5) Ability to work outdoors in hot and cold weather

The primary responsibility of this position is ensuring all aspects of Animal Care & Feeding are completed on a daily basis. You will work with any volunteers or clients (that may be mentally & physically challenged) to complete all the duties. The primary duties include but are not limited to:

1) Cleaning pens and animals

2) Supervising volunteers and tasks that they are to do.

3) Doctoring animals & routine hoof care

4) Maintaining health records & animal care supplies

5) Scheduling and attending farrier and vet appointments

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1) Helping with birthday parties, corporate events, & petting zoos

2) Give tours and answer questions for our guests

3) Grounds care such as mowing, landscaping, & painting

4) Fence repair and moving animals to pasture

5) Operation of farm equipment like tractors, pickups, lawn tractor, & ATV’s

Other beneficial skills: Vet tech or vet assistant, carpentry, mechanic skills, welding, experience pulling a trailer behind a pickup

Our ideal candidate is flexible with a can-do attitude, has strong communication skills, organized to follow directions, and carry out responsibilities, has a background in horsemanship or livestock. This is currently a part-time position that has the potential to grow into a full-time position with the right candidate.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $12.00 – $15.00 per hour
